What is SMILES?
SMILES is a fat extraction treatment developed around a simple question: how can fat be reduced simply and effectively?
A special solution is injected into the skin, the solution dissolves the fat cells, and the fat cells are then extracted directly using a cannula.
SMILES is not surgery.
How it compares with liposuction surgery
Anaesthesia — conventional liposuction uses sedation, with no communication possible during the procedure. SMILES uses local anaesthesia, so you can speak with the medical team throughout.
Time — two hours or more, against about an hour.
Afterwards — severe bruising, discomfort and slow recovery, against limited discomfort and bruising with quicker recovery.
